What it's like being a Level 3 Information Communications Technician

You’ll join Carden IT as an Infrastructure Technician for a fixed period of 15 months. The purpose of the Apprenticeship is to develop an Apprentice in the role of 1st Line Support.

Duties to include (working on/with):

Microsoft Operating Systems (desktop and server)
Office 365
VMware Esxi/VCentre Server
Active Directory
Group Policy
DNS, DHCP etc.
VPNs, Router and Firewalls
Networking – WAN, LAN, Security, SSL, IP Routing, Switching
Anti-Virus platforms such as Trend Micro
Backup solutions (Windows Backup, Acronis, Veeam)
For which full training will be provided.

Qualifications

Ideally English, Maths and Science GCSE A-C grade or equivalent (however lower grades will be considered, so don’t be put off)

Skills and characteristics

The successful applicant will require skills in the following areas:
Ability to solve problems under pressure, prioritising effectively.
Ability to escalate when required in a timely manner.
Strong customer service skills.
Excellent telephone manner is essential and although you will not be customer facing you must be smart and presentable.
Excellent time keeping
Excellent attention to detail

So how does the apprenticeship work?

Over 15 months, you’ll devote 20% of your 40 hours of working time towards a Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship . You’ll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro as well as an experienced mentor at Carden IT, who together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you’ll need to succeed in your career. The best part? You’ll be earning while you learn.

Being an apprentice is hands-on, so you’ll get the chance to learn things you might otherwise not have experienced in a university or college environment.

Tiro and Carden IT's ultimate goal is to transform you into a fully competent IT Technician, ideally open to accepting a full-time, permanent position within the team.
